Over 400,000 people attended Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC)'s 20th anniversary, held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway June 17-19, boasting elaborate stages with epic lighting, video, and pyrotechnics.

Circuit Grounds

Circuit Grounds stage featured an impressive 360° coliseum structure, with lighting design by Steve Lieberman and the team from SJ Lighting, Inc. Housed in a 470' wide arena, the stage measured 250' wide with heights ranging from 80' to 100'. Geometric bridges and towers of trussing and custom metalwork connected the structure. AG Production Services provided the trussing for the structure as well as lighting and video equipment.

Over 1,700 lighting fixtures, including strobes, LED sources, and specials, comprised the rig with over 100 DMX controlled-universes. Lighting fixtures were hung from the bottom rails of the bridges and out-rigged pipes on the towers. Most of the surfaces were clad with LED video panels, which featured content by Vello Virkhaus of V Squared Labs

Lieberman programmed and operated the lighting for many of the performances, collaborating with associate designers Maxwell T. Robin and Benjamin Rehm who ran pre-vis and helped accommodate guest lighting designers for various artists. Check out the full lighting gear list for Circuit Grounds below.

Circuit Grounds Stage Lighting Equipment List

Cosmic Meadow

Andre Beekmans of The Art of Light created the visual design for Cosmic Meadow stage, which featured 33 Robe BMFL WashBeam units, supplied by Solotech. 3G Productions supplied the Martin Audio MLA setup, comprising 18 MLA cabinets per side for the main hang, 12 MLA per side for the off-hangs, and 32 MLX subs ground-stacked in front of the stage. Six Martin Audio DD12 loudspeakers were stacked on top of the subs, while four MLA Compact were ground-stacked on each side of the stage. Positioned behind FOH were two delay towers with two hangs of eight MLA Compact. Mike Smeaton of 3G was the FOH engineer/system tech.

Kinetic Field

The 300' Kinetic Field stage featured production design by Maarten van den Berg with lighting design by Leon Driessen. The stage design included a set piece that had eight wings, four to each side. Felix Lighting supplied the lighting equipment for the stage, including 96 Clay Paky Sharpys positioned onstage, on the floor, and on the edge of every wing in quantities from seven to 11. Sixteen Clay Paky B-Eye K20s helped illuminate other set pieces as well. Two MA Lighting grandMA2 full-size consoles were used for pre-vis while another three were FOH to control lighting and water features, with three NPUs and ten NSPs for expansion. Two MDG Me4 fog generators were positioned upstage left and right, while two MDG Me2 foggers were placed center stage with another Me2 FOH. Robbert Jan Vernooy was the grandMA2 programmer and operator.

Basspod

For the second year at Basspod Stage, PK Sound deployed 32 Trinity, 16 modules per side as well as an additional five per side behind front of house for delays. Kontrol loudspeaker management software was used in conjunction with Trinity. PK also deployed 69 dual 18'' CX800 subwoofers for the stage.

Wasteland

Trinity powered Wasteland Stage for the first time, with 15 modules per side, using Kontrol loudspeaker management software, and 48 dual 18'' CX800 subwoofers. Austin Perkins was front of house engineer for Wasteland stage.
