UNLV: Vicente Rodriguez Scholarship Funding Campaign

The Vicente Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship was established at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2009 in memory of Vicente Rodriguez, who died as a result of an accidental fall less than a week after his 20th birthday. According to news reports, “The UNLV student fell nearly 40 feet to the showroom’s floor when trying to balance on a railing to reach a secure spot and clip in his fall-arrest line. He had taken a one-night job to help pack up equipment…” He was looking forward to working in the live events industry.

"We need the story to be told and remind all that safety and health come first as we turn the wheel of entertainment again," says industry veteran Kim Scott, chair of the UNLV Entertainment and Engineering Design Department advisory board.

Your gift will help endow this scholarship. Funds generated from the endowment will be able to fund scholarships in perpetuity. UNLV hopes that each scholarship recipient will take with them the lesson of Vicente's life and prevent similar tragedies from happening in the future.

Make a donation now and if funding is secured, the scholarship recipient will be announced at LDI2021, November 19-21 in Las Vegas.
