Tandem And V Squared Labs Become XiteLabs

Iconic visual artist Vello Virkhaus, former owner of V Squared Labs, and renowned content creator Greg Russell, former owner of Tandem Digital Entertainment, have come together to form XiteLabs.

The first collaboration for XiteLabs will be none other than the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s 100th anniversary at the Hollywood Bowl on September 30, 2018.

Dubbed “LA Phil Convergence,” this one-night-only immersive multimedia experience at the Hollywood Bowl is the finale to a full day of events throughout Los Angeles. There, during performances by Katy Perry, Herbie Hancock, Gustavo Dudamel, and more, XiteLabs will re-imagine the iconic Hollywood Bowl as a canvas upon which art, music, and imagery will merge and collide in stunning fashion.

“We are creating a visual landscape that will completely transform the Hollywood Bowl and the audience’s relationship with it, alongside the artistry of LA Phil’s famous conductor, Gustavo Dudamel,” says Virkhaus.

Here's a sneak preview of what one of the looks will be—the result of 12 computer animators, programmers, and digital artists working for more than two months.

The visual artistry of XiteLabs, combined with the music of LA Philharmonic, will include reinterpreting those wavelengths of sound into motion, color, and speed.

“We will be doing this live, so there’s room for improvisation,” adds Russell. “This intersection of the visceral and cerebral is where XiteLabs excels.”
