The Entertainment Technology Show – LDI2003 and Beyond!
has extended the special pre-registration prices for Backstage Orlando until Friday, November, 14. The schedule for the 2003 Backstage Orlando event includes:
Wednesday, November 19: THE HOLY LAND EXPERIENCE AND SEAWORLD
The day begins with breakfast at The Holy Land Experience, followed by a tour of the Scriptorum attraction and a panel with technical director John Hicks, and designer Mark Nichols of ITEC;
Part two is a tour of Sea World Orlando: Starting with lunch at Sharks Underwater Grill (including welcome, introductions and overview), while dining in an underwater grotto with some of the ocean's fiercest predators in Orlando's most unique restaurant.
Odyssea at the Nautilus Theatre: See SeaWorld's newest show, followed by a backstage tour and Q&A with show lighting designer Ken Billington, technical director John Seidel, programmer Jim Ohrberg and costume designer Skip Stewart.
The Shamu Adventure Show: No visit to SeaWorld is complete without seeing the power and majesty of Shamu the killer whale! After the show we will head backstage to meet with the video director, an audio technician, a whale trainer, lighting designer Jason Tart, and creative director Jason Kantrowitz who will share some of the fun technical secrets that make this wild show come to life.
Waterfront and Pets Ahoy: Crossing the Inner Harbor Bridge into the brand-new Waterfront at SeaWorld, we'll get our first introduction to this two-acre entertainment architecture development. Our walk takes us along the rocky shores of Smuggler's Way, past the upscale shops of High Street, and into Harbor Square where we'll end up at the Seaport Theatre in time to see Pets Ahoy.
See a zany animal show starring a unique cast that brings together dogs, cats, birds, mice, ducks, skunks, and pigs in unlikely circumstances! After the show join a Q&A with technical director Gene Reidy, an animal trainer, and lighting designers Jason Kantrowitz and Ken Billington.
Journey To Atlantis: Now it's time for some thrills! Here's a chance to ride the first-ever combination log-flume/roller coaster ride with its lighting designers Ken Billington and Jason Kantrowitz. After catching your breath, spend a few minutes enjoying the attraction's secret multi-tank aquarium and get a backstage glimpse of its inner workings.
Waterfront Architectural Talk: Enjoy a refreshing beverage and Shamu ice cream bar outdoors at The Sandbar, overlooking the Waterfront. Project creative team members on hand to give an overview of the design challenges include creative director Jason Kantrowitz, lighting designer Ken Billington, audio and show control designer designers Bill Platt and Roger Smith, special effects designer Tylor Wymer, pyrotechnics designer Marty Steinke and director of theatrical services Scott McMurtrie. Following the talk, take a closer look on a walk through the Waterfront shops and restaurants.
Dinner at the Makahilki Luau: Join the exotic Polynesian cast for SeaWorld's colorful Makahiki Luau island feast, followed by a summation of the day's activities and Q&A with SeaWorld creative and production team members.
Waterfront Night Walkthrough: The park may be closed, but on the way back to the bus lighting designer Ken Billington gives an exclusive look at the Waterfront's nighttime lighting.

See Cirque du Soleil’s extraordinary production, La Nouba, at Downtown Disney, following by a post-show discussion with designers and technical team members, and a cocktail party.
