Republicans Tentatively Reach Bill Known As CARES 2

Friends,

To bring everyone up to date, here is what transpired today on The Hill.

The Republicans have tentatively reached a Bill, known as CARES 2.

It is with The White House for Review.

It is expected to drop early next week, hopefully Monday.

No real details are available, but, it does contain:

  • A PPP Sequel Program as they are calling it.
  • Some type of Enhanced Unemployment Insurance, no details available at this time.
  • Some form of broad liability protection
  • Other items not part of our industry field of vision.

There are no other details at this time.

Both the House and the Senate will be off tomorrow.

Monday through Wednesday, it is rumored that Congressman John Lewis will lay In State.

Few details are available on this as well.

Needless to say, as respects will be paid to the Congressman, very little will be formally happening in Congress.

Thursday looks to be the next, and possibly the only day next week that a lot will be done formally.

Certainly a lot can and most likely will occur behind the scenes as the two parties will begin the process of working to a Bill acceptable to all parties.

Ordinarily, Congress would not be in session next Friday, but that is not set in stone at this point.

This is where it sits tonight.

There is a lot of concern and a large focus by both sides of the Aisle that the current Enhanced Unemployment Insurance expires on Friday, July 31.

To that end, there is speculation that Congress may stand up a temporary 30 day extension of Enhanced Unemployment Insurance.

There is no public conversation about what dollar amount would be offered. This is only speculation.

Here is an overview of the potential details.

Please note, this is all speculative.

Thank you all for everything you do and have done.

Please know your voices have been heard, and you very successful e-mail campaign played a big part in getting this legislation to the point it is now.

Our legislators are very aware of the needs of Live Events and seem to be providing the details we need to move forward to the end of 2020.

Thank you all again for the phenomenal effort and be safe,
