Live Design Launches Community Initiatives At LDI2018

New York, NY – Live Design has announced initiatives for its Impact pillar of connecting communities through the joy and possibility within live experiences. Bringing the outside world behind the scenes of this exciting industry, Live Design will immerse people in our world of art and storytelling and inspire future generations to share their stories. These initiatives will be introduced at Live Design International (LDI) from October 15-21, 2018 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Live Design is helping the LDI community support its own members as well as communities beyond through the six important charities—Behind the Scenes; Event Safety Alliance; Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids; Planned Parenthood; American Cancer Society; and Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) of Southern Nevada—that are now listed on the LDI2018 registration form. This allows LDI attendees to easily donate to the charity of their choice when they register for the show.

“This is an important initiative that accents our support of three industry efforts as well as three broader charities as a means of giving back to organizations that our attendees have indicated are important to them,” says David Johnson, managing director of the LDI/Live Design franchise. “This initiative reinforces our commitment to the people, organizations, and companies who make a difference in our world by creating, or enabling the creation of, transformative experiences as well as those who provide care for those in need.”

In further collaboration with FEAT, LDI will host a Parents Night Out on Friday, October 19 at LDI: Live Outside. FEAT parents can bring their children to Neuro Fit Systems for four hours of fun, while the parents head on over to LDI’s 30th Anniversary party, featuring a concert by 80s cover band as well as DJs, food trucks, and more. On October 21, LDI will welcome parents and children for a Sunday Stroll of the LDI2018 show floor, and in particular, an immersive, interactive sensory booth, featuring various lighting and audiovisual setups, provided by Encore Productions.

“This initiative not only gives back to the Las Vegas community that hosts LDI each year,” adds Johnson, “but also exposes the minds of future generations to the joy and artistry of our entertainment design world and the opportunities it offers.”

“Light can be used as a form of therapy for children with autism,” explains LDI’s newly promoted show manager Jessi Cybulski, “which means many of the products we design, manufacture, and operate in this industry have a therapeutic effect for children. How cool is that? We hope working with the Nevada chapter of FEAT is just the beginning of what we as an industry can do.”

For the third consecutive year, LDI will also collect unopened toiletries to then distribute to homeless shelters and transitional living facilities. Attendees will be given one raffle entry for each product donated. Three winners will be selected on Sunday, October 21 and announced in a special notification on the LDI Mobile App. Each winner will receive a 2019 LDInnovation™ Conference Pass and cash gift card.

To inspire the art and design of live experiences, Live Design’s Impact Committee will concentrate its outreach within several pillars of purpose: connecting communities through the joy and possibility within live experiences; enhancing the industry through differentiating perspectives from diverse and inclusive voices; and empowering professionals with the most innovative tools and techniques.

As the leading conference and tradeshow for live design professionals from all around the globe, LDI hosts over 14,000 members of the production community, working in a wide range of international live and broadcast venues – festivals, corporate events, theatre, concerts, clubs, theme parks, architainment, and houses of worship. Registration for LDI2018 is now open at www.ldishow.com. Register today and make a difference with a donation to the charity of your choice.
