NEW YORK, December 22, 2020 -- The LDI 2020 Design Achievement Awards, produced by Questex and supported by headline sponsor WorldStage, honor design excellence in the fields of lighting design, projection/video design, and production design in the areas of Theatre (including dance and opera), Live For Broadcast, and Concert Touring & Events.
The awards will be presented in a virtual format by the LDI/Live Design team on January 13, 14, and 15, starting at 3pm Eastern each day and broadcast via WorldStage’s Digital Oasis platform.
Work created from August 1, 2019 through July 31, 2020 was nominated, and the judging panels for each category narrowed the nominees to three projects per award. The judging panels were chaired by dance writer Lauren Warnecke for Theatre; lighting designer and programmer Tiffany Keys for Live For Broadcast; and production/lighting designer Cory FitzGerald for Concert Touring & Events.

Live Design readers voted to determine the winners, who will be announced at virtual awards presentations at 3pm Eastern on January 13 (Live For Broadcast), January 14, (Theatre), and January 15 (Concert Touring & Events).
The awards will include the first-ever Pandemic Pivot Prizes (PPP) that will recognize individuals, companies, and teams that have successfully pivoted their business or productions in the face of industry shutdown due to COVID-19. One prize will be presented each day of the Design Awards.
The awards will be presented using the WorldStage Digital Oasis platform for virtual events services. Digital Oasis is a comprehensive online hosting solution purpose-built by production people for the live event production community to provide the foundation for successful virtual events.
“We are extremely excited to be working with WorldStage to present our awards virtually using Digital Oasis,” says Marian Sandberg, Live Design/LDI vice president and market leader. “This is a very integrated digital solution, and we are just dipping our toe in the sea of possibilities it offers.”
“We have developed a great partnership with the LDI Team over the years, and we work together to create new and unique experiences,” notes TJ Donoghue, Director of Integration at WorldStage. “While we wish we were able to be with them in person, we are looking forward to producing this multi-part virtual awards show together, celebrating some amazing work.”
