Most notable achievements: Showing my work at various venues such as Redcat, Academy of Television Arts and Science, Los Angeles Convention Center, Nassau Coliseum , and LA Forum to international venues in Indonesia, Prague, Vienna, India, Zurich, England, Mexico, and Seoul.
When I started in this industry: I did four years of my own directed work and a year of huge concert video work.
How I got into this industry: I met Bob Bonniol of Mode Studios while I was at CalArts, and I realized this industry is where I wanted to be. I started with Blue Man Group while working with GMD Three studio in New York, making content for hip-hop artists such as Eminem and Ludacris, and naturally started to work with Mode. My life is truly a dream come true.
Influences: Julie Taymor, Troika Ranch, Oriental brush painting, Impressionism, minimalist music, 4DArt, Carl Jung, Maureen Selwood, William Kentridge, George Tsypin, contemporary dance.
Worst advice I’ve ever heard: “Get married, and make babies!”
Best advice I’ve ever heard: “Finish the three-hour show in two weeks!”
Favorite thing about the production industry: Thousands of people are screaming at my video. It is truly addicting—love it!
Favorite design/programming/technical trick: An awesome shortcut in Adobe After Effects: a series of key frames, and you want to maintain their relationship to each other, but you have to adapt to a new timeframe. You can select the series of key frames, hold down “alt,” and drag either end to fit into the new timeframe, and they will “stretch” to fit.
Plans for the future: Videos for more concerts, opera, live events, architecture, installations, and performance spaces.
Other interests/side gigs: Drawing, filmmaking, and dancing.
