SolaSpot Pro 1500s Augment Trey Anastasio At Peach Music Festival

For Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio’s recent performance at the Peach Festival in Scranton, PA, lighting designer Marc Janowitz used a High End Systems SolaSpot Pro 1500 rig to add beauty and texture to the show visuals. Supplied by Pinpoint Lighting, several dozen Pro 1500s were the primary lighting instrument in his design, and provided their trademark colors, effects and intensity to Trey’s solo performance.

Marc comments, “The Trey Anastasio Band tour design requires a compliment of profile units with a good and diverse set of beam options to match the rest of the tour design. Peach Festival was a one-off show, and as such we weren’t traveling with any lighting gear other than the Hog 4 Full Boar console & wings. Pinpoint supplied the festival rig with the SolaSpot Pro 1500 as the featured profile, and I opted to have them supply the same fixtures for Trey's floor package.”

This show was Marc’s first experience with the new HES SolaRange fixtures, and he enthuses, “If no one had told me these were LED sources I wouldn’t have guessed it.  I honestly couldn’t believe it wasn’t an arc source. The overhead fixtures were laid out in an X pattern on two trusses, and I arranged an additional eight fixtures in an arc on the floor that more or less encircled the band. The 1500s are workhorse fixtures - bright and feature packed. They offer a great assortment of gobos, and a big bore chunk of a light beam! I’d welcome them back on my rigs.”

Pinpoint’s John Duncan adds, “The SolaSpot Pro 1500 has become the new workhorse for our company. We are very happy with them and so our customers.”

In closing, Marc says, “I had about three pre-viz days in my studio to clone the rig from the TAB master file I’ve been building for four years - Trey has 70+ potential songs that he chooses on a moment’s notice. The amphitheatre that hosts Peach Festival has a white contoured stretch tent over it, and that turned out to be a great surface to showcase the different gobo textures in the fixtures. Whenever I see John Duncan and Pinpoint on the spec I know it’s going to be a smooth and pro operation, and they did not disappoint!  Toecutter (Jason Olson - Festival LD and crew chief) made our integration into the festival plot virtually seamless.”
