PRG EML Invests In Robe

PRG-EML Productions, based in Utrecht have recently invested in Robe’s new BMFL Spot moving lights … Robe’s reporting team caught up with this leading production company, during a recent road trip to The Netherlands, and interviewed General Manager Wouter Muurlink.

PRG-EML Productions specialises in delivering lighting, rigging and audio solutions to all sectors of the entertainment and industrial presentation industry and currently has a stock of around 200 Robe products in their wider inventory of moving lights.

The Robe purchases started three years ago with LEDWash 1200s, to which LEDWash 800s, Pointes and CycFX 8s were quickly added followed by most recently, the BMFL Spots. They were the first company in Holland to have the BMFL Spots, an action that set the ball rolling for sales from Controllux, Robe’s very proactive Benelux distributor.

The first project for PRG-EML’s new BMFL Spots was the massive 95th anniversary party for Dutch national airline KLM, staged in Hangar 12 at Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport which was designed by Gerard Maijenburg.

“The BMFL Spot quickly became a popular fixture in Holland,” commented Wouter, “And many riders for tours and the large one-offs now feature BMFLs so we had to have them available”.

It was a joint decision to purchase the fixtures. They were particularly keen to add to the stock of Pointes, which has proved a smart purchase as the fixtures are constantly in demand. He also thinks the CycFX 8 is a good product and “Something different”.

Wouter observed that since the launch of Robe’s ROBIN series in 2010, the brand has really stepped up to another level of product design.

He adds that Controllux has also played their part in marketing Robe “Extremely comprehensively” and steadily over the last eight years or so, and they enjoy a great working relationship and excellent service which is all-important for a busy rental operation.

PRG-EML’s BMFLs have been used on a string of high profile shows recently including the award winning Vrienden van Amstel music event, staged in Rotterdam’s famous Ahoy venue with a star-studded line-up of top Dutch pop and rock artists across three stages. LD Gert-Jan Schreuder also utilised Pointes, LEDWash 800s and CycFX 8s.

They also made their presence felt at the launch event for Pioneering Spirit, the world's largest platform installation/decommissioning and pipe-lay vessel, and in fact the overall biggest ever vessel constructed to date with a gross tonnage of 403,342 gt, a breadth of 123.75 m/406 ft and a displacement (900,000 metric tons). This took place in the North Sea out of Rotterdam port.
