Painting With Light At EAS

Belgium based show, performance and visual design specialist Painting with Light exhibited for the first time at EAS, the Euro Attractions Show expo staged at the Fira Gran Via Convention Centre in Barcelona, Spain.

The three day event is organised by IAAPA (the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) and .EAS 2016 was billed as an “all-encompassing” event for leisure, attractions and amusement industry professionals.

With a recent increase in creative work in this sector, the Painting with Light team led by Luc Peumans thought it would be an ideal forum to showcase their knowledge, imagination and flair.

Painting with Light is renowned for combining elements like lighting, video, scenic and architectural design with audio and special effects to help unfold stories, evoke emotions and engage audiences across a wide range of genres and mediums – from theatre to music to digital art.

In addition to highlighting its creative lighting, video and scenic design services, Painting with Light’s Virtual Reality set was featured on the booth, a project being developed to offer clients and investors the most detailed, close-up and comprehensive walk-through pre-visualisation experiences. This will provide as near to a real life ‘mock-up’ as possible of a prosed concept

Being the first such exhibition the company had undertaken, there was an initial mix of anticipation and intrepidation about EAS! At the end of the three days Luc stated, “It was definitely a very worthwhile exercise that had a real buzz and exceeded our expectations”

“We saw wide mix of people not just from across Europe, but from further afield like Latin America, the U.S. and Canada, with whom we had numerous conversations and interesting discussions. It was our intention, to try reach a wider international audience. And we really feel that is one of the goals achieved in Barcelona.

Recent Painting with Light attractions projects have included work at theme parks in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Poland.

Luc observers that the quality of visitors was generally “very good”, and the footfall was steady.

He feels overall that EAS was “a great opportunity to network and meet people, as well as to discuss potential new business and develop more good direct lines of communication into the attractions industry in general”.
