Chauvet Professional COLORados Colorize Reaction Stage

CHICAGO – (For Immediate Release) – Measuring 840,000 square feet (78,000 sq. m) The Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL is the tenth largest exhibition hall in the United States. The massive facility served as an appropriate setting for React Presents' Reaction New Year's Eve festival, a two-day event that delivered a big time experience to fans in the form of a star studded lineup of house music heavies and an immense wall of light on stage created by LD Collyns Stenzel of White Light AV.

Stenzel’s rig for this self-described ‘warehouse style festival” included its share of audience blinders. However, going beyond the brawn, his design also featured an element of beauty, with richly colored patterns running across the front of the stage courtesy of 96 COLORado Batten 144 Tour RGBWA linear washes from CHAUVET Professional.

Arranged in V-shaped configurations flown from upstage truss, the COLORados were grouped into eight distinct cells to create unique looks on different parts of the stage. “I used the COLORado Battens as a frontal effect to run patterns across the stage,” said Stenzel who controlled his rig with a grandMA2 over 2 NPU’s. “The COLORados were chosen for this festival because they have multiple cells and are extremely bright, so they stood out in this big facility even with the high powered beams we had in the rig.”

Aside from providing “excellent eye candy,” Stenzel credits the colorizing effect of the COLORados with contributing to a distinctive look on stage for each of the artists who performed at the festival. “The look on stage is part of the audience’s experience,” he said. “As an artist you want the lighting to contribute to the individual identity of each act.”

The acts performing at the big convention center during for React Presents' Reaction New Year's Eve festival, were a diverse and impressive group, representing the elite of EDM, techno, dub step and house music. On Wednesday December 30, Deadmau5 closed the evening with a dance party performance. The next night, it was Skrillex welcoming the New Year with a set that went into the early morning,

Supporting these two dance music capos was a stellar cast of artists including CHVRCHES, Chance the Rapper, Run the Jewels, Robin Schulz, Bonobo, Get Real and Purity Ring. “The people at React Presents went all out to create a New Year’s Eve event that went above and beyond,” said Stenzel. “My goal was to match this level of excellence with a lightshow that delivered an extra level of engagement. We wanted beams and blinders and we wanted eye candy, but that wasn’t enough. We also wanted to create some deeper looks and the patterns we ran with the COLORados were big in helping us do something special on stage.”
