Bandit Lights Inaugural Innovation In Music Awards

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – Nashville held its first Innovation in Music Awards, a celebration of those who forged a path in shaping and developing the constantly changing music industry. The maiden awards ceremony took place June 6 at The Westin and honored John Esposito of Warner Music Nashville with Innovator of the Year along with special awards to Mike McVay, David Macias, Shane McAnally, Brian O’Connell, Leslie Fram, Bobby Bones, Gogi Gupta, J.R. Schumann, Tim Roberts, Bev Rainey and Kory James.

With the event celebrating those who propel the music industry forward, some musical performances were to be expected. Hunter Hayes, Bailey Bryan, Drew Baldridge and Walker Hayes all took the stage while Rascal Flatts’ own Jay DeMarcus hosted.

When crafting a lighting design for the awards, Bob Peterson paid special attention to make sure the lighting highlighted the real focus of the night: the honorees.

“We kept the creative fundamentally strong and basic, in order to let the people, concept and ideas of the event take center stage at this inauguration,” Peterson said.

Because of the low ceiling and space limitations, Peterson utilized HES Framing SoloSpot 2000s for key light, which supplied shapeable, even and color correctable illumination while RobeCYC FX8’s debuted for scenic light and beam effects.

Bandit Lites also supplied VL 3000 Spots, VL 2500 Spots, GLP X4, GLP X4S and grandMA 1 full console for control.

“This was right smack in the middle of The Stanley Cup Playoffs, CMA Fest, and CMT Awards,” said Peterson. “I believe it to have been the single busiest production week in Nashville history, yet Bandit took on the challenge, and delivered 100 percent.”
