Auratone A2-30 Amplifier Wins 2020 TEC Award

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: TransAudio Group, U.S. distributor of the world’s most uncompromising professional audio equipment, is pleased to announce the 2020 TEC Award win for Auratone’s small but impressive A2-30 reference amplifier. Auratone is best known for its 5C Super Sound Cube – a small-format, single-driver reference monitor that has been the industry standard for “real world” mix referencing since Jack Wilson first started producing them out of his California garage in 1958. The 5C Super Sound Cube earned a spot in the TEC Hall of Fame in 2016. Now joining with a TEC Award win, the Auratone A2-30 reference amplifier went through extensive research and development to provide the ideal circuitry for flat-frequency, transparent, and consistent monitoring with 5C Super Sound Cubes. It is custom built in Poland using high-quality components by boutique pro audio designer/manufacturer Bettermaker, and it is sized to fit neatly on a meter bridge with a pair of Cubes.

“We were motivated to bring the Auratone A2-30 reference amplifier to market to give users the perfect match for their 5C Super Sound Cubes – one that could be adopted by studios around the world so that any engineer who stepped into the control room would know exactly what they were getting,” explained Alex Jacobsen, owner and president of Auratone and grandson of founder Jack Wilson. “We did a ton of R&D to really dial it in and worked closely with Bettermaker to ensure the handmade manufacturing process made it shine. We were up against a lot of big amplifier manufacturers with very intricate and excellent designs, so we’re honored and happy to have won the 2020 TEC Award in the Amplification Hardware/Studio & Sound Reinforcement category.”

The Auratone A2-30 is a simple 30W per channel stereo amplifier. Apart from a lot of heart where it matters, the A2-30 is austere – simple high-quality connections, a power switch, and a power-on LED are its only features. While perfectly matched to the 5C Super Sound Cube, the A2-30 will, of course, make other small reference monitors sound excellent as well.

The Auratone A2-30 reference amplifiers are shipping now and available for review.
