5Qs with Calibre at Prolight+Sound 2019

Richard Smith, EMEA Sales Manager at Calibre UK, chats about the company’s upcoming trade show presence at Prolight+Sound. Smith has worked with Calibre since 2002 and is passionate about technology and knows a thing or two about the processing technology behind LED video walls and projection.

1. Tell us a little bit about the changes happening at Calibre?

In August 2017, Calibre became part of the Coretronic Corporation, who manufactures the largest number of DLP® projectors in the world. Since becoming part of the Coretronic family, we have been working behind the scenes on our new technology, designing new products, and of course, creating a brand new Calibre. In 2019, we will continue this focus, and Prolight + Sound will be the launch platform for these products and will firmly establish Calibre new direction as a display solutions provider.

2. Are there specific markets you are looking to develop?

With the focus shifting into solutions, we are looking to further develop our existing markets, such as professional AV, staging, broadcast, houses of worship, medical, corporate AV and education markets. The new technology we are launching will ensure no matter the project there is a suitable solution from Calibre.

3. What should people expect from Calibre at Prolight + Sound?

This will be our first ever stand at Prolight + Sound so expect a vibrant and lively stand with lots or everyone to see.

Booth 4-B35 will have regular demos of products both old and new ranging from our popular LEDView range and the award-winning All in One 130” LED TV powered by LEDView, to a first live look at the HQPro1000, the ultimate seamless scaler-switcher for general Pro-AV and LED large venue presentations. We will also have an exclusive look at other products in development including the new QuadVision Series, which will be getting its first look at the show.

4. What’s on the horizon for Calibre in the next year or even in five years?

2019 has already proven to be a busy one despite it only being the 3rd month in (at the time of writing). Our development teams are already working hard on the next generation of products, some of which will be given a first look on our stand at Prolight & Sound. Over the coming years, we intend to offer much more than ever before, and we aim to be a one stop shop for all your future processing needs, maintaining the high quality processing expected from Calibre throughout your display chain.

5. Are there specific relationships you’d like to develop?

We are keen to develop relationships with key dealers and system integrators around the world. These companies are often key to some of the best events; without some of them, events would not happen. We don’t want to stop there though; the event organisers themselves often have a say in the technology they need so we welcome everyone to come and see us and discuss future requirements.
