Calibre UK Ltd this month announced that the company is continuing its efforts to expand its distribution channels in both North and South America and have a range of LED and switching-scaling solutions available for event and entertainment professionals.

Wei Wei Yin has extensive experience in multimedia design and the AV industry. She joined Coretronic Corp in 2011 and currently holds the position of Sales and Marketing for Calibre UK. She has held the positions of Business Head,  Education and Corporate Solutions and was instrumental in helping the company expand its laser projector business in to a world number one position. Can you describe what Calibre’s presence is in the Americas?

Calibre HQUltra image processing technology has been widely adopted by a leading AV brands. Since the acquisition by Coretronic Corp, Calibre has reshaped its business strategy to channel development and brand engagement. With the latest launch of a new LED Display product line (All-in-One LEDFusion), Calibre has a stronger product portfolio that will facilitate channel development in America. There are many loyal customers in America who prefer to use Calibre products. We want to make our suite of products available to them.

You have traditionally been involved in scaling, warping, blending and switching. How are the new technologies and solutions you are offering relevant for lighting and video technology professionals working in entertainment?

LED walls are used widely used in the entertainment industry. Calibre has incorporated its HQUltra image processing technology inside the recently launched All-in-One LED display to deliver ease of use and the best image quality for every AV and event professional. As the market demand for higher resolution (4K+) has rapidly increased, Calibre continues to invest its R&D resources in developing true 4K seamless video switching at affordable price points to address the market demand.

How do your R&D teams come up with new product ideas? What do you look for? What really excites you?

“We make LED easy” - that’s as simple as it is. Currently there are many pain points in the LED wall industry that needs to be addressed and resolved. Calibre’s All-in-one LED Display has achieved recognition winning many major “Best of Show” awards because it proves it can solve many installation challenges as well as reduce complexity and it addresses safety issues.

Over the past few years, our R&D team members has tripled. We have a superior position in the design of FPGA to manufacturing, which other competing companies are unable to match. This makes us stand out in the development of high image quality and user oriented products.

How do you maintain and foster customer relations? What partnerships are you looking for?

In America, we are looking for partners who are able to drive the market of innovative displays and provide immediate local support to customers.

For EMEA and Asia Pacific, we have a network strong systems integration partners. We design solid training programs and keep open communication with all our customers to support their business. Throughout last year, we have made great progress. We have four AiO LED display installations at Indonesia Presidential Palaces for example.

How do you see the market developing for what you do?

As the current display industry is being saturated by LCD display, the rapid drop of MSRP has become an issue to all LCD manufacturers.

They are moving forward to develop LED, so we believe that LED display will become a major display product in near future.

As a market leader in innovation, Calibre will continue to utilises its own in-house hardware and software design teams for all product development with technology centres in Bradford, UK and Hannover, Germany and its manufacturing facility in Bradford, UK. This enables Calibre to optimise product performance and retain an unusually high depth of technical knowledge of the design and innovation.
