The 2009 TPi Awards – which recognise the industry's most innovative and ambitious technical, creative and production achievements - were presented by Phil Jupitus at London's Grosvenor House venue on February 9th.

The win follows an incredibly busy and successful year for XL Video worldwide, and was collected by members of the XL Video UK team. XL Video also won this coveted award in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008. XL UK's Chris Mounsor and Lee Spencer comment, “Again, we are genuinely surprised at winning this prestigious Award. It is an open vote by everyone in the industry and the title “Favourite Video Services Company” is an indication of the respect that XL commands in the touring sector. We'd like to thank all our crew, staff and personnel who have made this possible.”

XL has worked with and supplied the latest video equipment, skills, experience and technical know-how to some of the most aesthetically daring artists throughout 2008. The list includes REM, Kylie Minogue, Coldplay, Mark Ronson, George Michael, Kings of Leon, Westlife, The Kaiser Chiefs and many, many more.

On the arts side, XL has also been mega busy, involved in numerous memorable projects like The Question Mark inside at St Paul's Cathedral, the Greenwich & Docklands International festival and Portrait Of A Nation, which wrapped up Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture.

Additionally, Blue Leach who regularly works with XL Video, won the TPi 2009 Award for ‘Video Director of the Year'. His work last year included the phenomenal REM tour, for which video was supplied by XL. Out of the 6 individuals nominated for this category, XL works extensively with 5 of them – apart from Blue Leach, these are Jon Shrimpton, Larn Poland, Phil Woodhead and Andy Bramley.

Kylie Minogue's amazing video-tastic KylieX 2008 world tour won the TPi Award for ‘Live Production of the Year' – yet another visually imaginative masterpiece for which XL Video UK also supplied equipment and crew.
