Upstage Video Provides 115' Daktronics LED Display for Gala Evening at NBAA 2010

261 panels of Daktronics PST-12HDDynamic content sets the scene on the big screen as Bombardier officially launches new Global Jet Class to an engaged audience

BROOKINGS, S.D. – November 30, 2010 – One of the largest portable LED displays constructed to date – a 27' h x 115' w Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) large-screen video display – was the talk of the show at the National Business Aviation Association's 63rd Annual Meeting & Convention. NBAA, the largest fair in the field of corporate aviation, held its annual meeting from Oct. 19-21 in Atlanta, GA.

Designed by The Aileron Group and constructed by Upstage Video specifically for the event, the giant LED screen took a front row seat as a host of companies attending NBAA presented their products and services to the approximately 25,000 government officials, manufacturers, aviation personnel and industry leaders interested in the world of business aviation.

Bombardier, a manufacturer of state-of-the-art planes and trains, officially introduced its flagship Global aircraft family with the new Global 7000 & Global 8000 jets at the show's gala evening. The immense, "jet-sized" LED display, comprised of 261 modular Daktronics PST-12HD panels, set the scene, creating an engaging backdrop of product graphics, video and dynamic company content for the launch.

Bombardier turned to The Aileron Group to create this unforgettable visual experience. Aileron chose Upstage Video, a Daktronics rental partner and leading provider of modular video displays and mobile units, to construct the display and Jeff Robinson's team at T & B Equipment Company to provide the ground support scaffold structure.

"Bombardier approached us requesting that we create a screen the same size as their new aircraft being launched, 27' tall x 115' long. They wanted to show the immense size of this new corporate jet," said Aileron Group President Matthew Coull.

After weeks of looking for a viable solution, Aileron partnered with Upstage Video, CCR Solutions & T & B Equipment to create the largest portable LED screen ever assembled. With the sheer size of this project came numerous technical hurdles to overcome including finding a way to secure the massive screen within feet of many very expensive corporate jets, as well as figuring out the logistics of an LED video display that large.

"We overcame these hurdles and the final result was simply stunning. The screen was the talk of the show," said Coull.

For the rental partner, Upstage Video, the NBAA opportunity was too good to pass up.

"Aileron and Bombardier have been great clients for years, and they are always pushing us to the limit of our capabilities," said Doug Murray, President of Upstage Video. "Our team did their homework and the event went off without a hitch. It was a truly awesome screen, with some delicious content. As usual, the Daktronics PST-12HD panels made mincemeat of the sun. It's our first choice when building spectaculars such as the one for Bombardier."

Daktronics PST-12HD panels feature 7,000 nits of intensity, a revolutionary pixel layout for enhanced contrast, superior viewing angles and 19-bit image processing for industry-leading image quality making it the ideal choice for outdoor corporate events and product launches. The flexibility and building block design of the PST product line gives users the freedom to construct displays of nearly any size or shape.

"We expect some of our sporting event clients to step up and challenge the title of the "largest ever." The bar has been set, and we're confident we could have made it bigger with ease," said Murray.
