Star Struck! Shooting Star LED From American DJ Combines Classic Effect With Tri-Color LED Excitement

shooting-star-led.jpgLOS ANGELES, Calif. – For years, American DJ's legendary Aggressor lighting effect has been a staple for DJs, clubs and musicians throughout the world. So last year, when the company came out with an LED-powered version - the Aggressor Tri LED - it was a huge success. Now ADJ is building further on the popularity of this classic fixture with the introduction of a yet more ramped-up Aggressor-style LED effect, the Shooting Star LED.

Like the original Aggressor and Aggressor Tri LED, the new Shooting Star LED features a grid-style design on the front, with beams shooting out from rows and columns of lenses to cover the dance floor with bright shafts of multi-color light. But the Shooting Star LED actually has more lenses than its predecessors – a total of 48 – so it produces an eye-popping four dozen beams! What's more, its lenses are stacked 6 rows high, with 8 lenses in each row, so it can cover a much larger area – creating not just a shower, but a tsunami of brilliantly colored beams.

The Shooting Star LED's 48 beams are created by a massive 10-watt Tri-Color RGB LED. This 10-watter blasts out a roaring output, but there's another reason why it's no ordinary LED: it features American DJ's exclusive Tri-Color LED Technology, which means it can produce beams in a rainbow of 7 different colors – red, green, blue, purple, yellow, cyan and white – unlike most LED effects, which are typically limited to red, green and blue. This exciting spectrum of colors is made possible because the Shooting Star's LED lamp is actually a 3-in-1 unit, comprised of red, green and blue LED diodes. As a result, color mixing can be done inside the lamp to offer a wider variety of hues than the typical LED effect.

With its four dozen beams and intensely bright LED multi-colors, the Shooting Star LED is like “an Aggressor on steroids,” said Scott Davies, General Manager of the American DJ Group of Companies. “Everyone who is familiar with the Aggressor or Aggressor Tri LED will be amazed when they see this new, souped-up version.

“In developing the Shooting Star LED, we used the distinctive Aggressor design and added LED technology, as we did with the Aggressor Tri LED, but we took this concept to a bigger, more powerful level,” explained Davies. “The Shooting Star LED has a larger lens grid so it can produce a dozen more beams than its predecessor, and it also has some true premium features. It's perfect for mobile entertainers, clubs and musicians who love the classic Aggressor-style effect, but want to step up to a bigger, more professional unit -- and who also want the low maintenance and energy efficiency of LED technology.”

Among the Shooting Star LED's advanced, professional features are its smooth stepper motors, which provide superior beam movement and control. Another cutting-edge feature, of course, is its LED light source, which offers users major advantages over halogen fixtures, such as a super-long lamp life of 100,000 hours, and a low 20W (maximum) power consumption. The Shooting Star LED also has a cooler operating temperature than halogen fixtures, allowing it to run all night without shutting down for duty cycles. And, if you're a mobile entertainer, there's no need to wait for the Shooting Star to cool down at the end of a gig. Just turn it off and pack it up!

A DMX-512 compatible unit, the Shooting Star LED includes 3 DMX channels and a convenient 4-button LED DMX display screen on the back panel. In true “Aggressor” fashion, it can also be operated without a DMX controller as an easy-play sound-active effect, moving to its own internal programs. Multiple units can be linked Master-Slave via XLR cable. The Shooting Star LED can also be run remotely with American DJ's optional UC3 remote control (sold separately), via a built-in ¾” input jack.

The Shooting Star LED has a 112° beam angle and includes a strobe effect. It features multi-voltage operation: AC100-240V, 50/60Hz. A hanging bracket is included.

Like the original Aggressor, the Shooting Star LED is lightweight and compact – perfect for mobile use. It measures 12”L x 9.25”W x 11”H, and weighs 9 lbs. The MSRP of the Shooting Star LED is $459.95
