Stage Research Releases Updates for ShowBuilder 6 and RF Guru

Stage Research wraps up the year with a holiday present for users of its ShowBuilder 6 and RF Guru software: new versions of both popular packages.

"ShowBuilder 6.1 has been updated with a new user interface for easier access to data," reports Stage Research co-founder Carlton Guc. "It also features the latest database of sound equipment, new reports and improved support for multiple disciplines, including lighting and video."

ShowBuilder has been embraced by industry professionals as the software that takes the drudgery out of the administrative side of production. Completely rewritten last year to broaden its scope, ShowBuilder serves everyone in production: sound designers, lighting designers, carpenters, hair and makeup, stage management, wardrobe and technical directors. Users find the software indispensable for handling production paperwork for company, cast, sound, props, route tracking and more.

Guc is also pleased to announce an update for RF Guru, which launched in 2009. "We have introduced RF Guru 1.1, a general maintenance release that adds new RF equipment, improved speed and updated FCC and Canadian frequencies," he says.

RF Guru has quickly gained a following as a coordination tool targeted to anyone dealing with wireless microphones. Designed to find the best combination of wireless mic frequencies for a venue and alleviate interference problems, it calculates based on existing mics, area TV stations, user-entered known bad frequencies and even mic data from neighboring venues. Earlier this year, in collaboration with Lectrosonics, RF Guru began using the Lectrosonics VR series of wireless mics to scan all frequency ranges and database frequencies that seem to be problematic and find the best wireless frequencies to use in that space.

The updates for ShowBuilder and RF Guru are free of charge for users who currently have an upgrade subscription or who have purchased these programs in the last year.
