Robert Juliat Victor Followspots Fit Alice Tully Hall Perfectly

athTwo Robert Juliat Victor 1800W followspots have been installed at the new Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City. The elaborate transformation of the world-famous Tully enclave of music, theater, dance and film was part of a full renovation of all Lincoln Center theaters. This massive, multi-theater project required the pick-up and refurbishment of 150 existing fixtures and included the purchase of a few new ones, including two Robert Juliat Victor followspots.

Consultant Fisher Dachs specified the product, which was purchased through Barbizon Lighting. The Hall's associate director of concert hall production Terence Larsen was thrilled to get the Victors for Tully Hall. "I'd taken one of my stagehands with me to see the Victor at Fisher Dachs," recounts Larsen. "I thought it was exactly what we needed for Alice Tully Hall, which reopens February '09." He explains that at Tully the unit "just seemed to fit the footprint of the hall."

The Robert Juliat Victor 1159 1800W followspot, with its electronic ballast, hot restrike ignition and high performance double condenser zoom optical system, comes with a 100% closing iris, as well as a 100% closing mechanical dimmer. A 6 way color changer system (equipped with removable filter frames), plus a frost filter frame on the flip lever, come standard.

Everyone was especially impressed with the Victor's quiet operation, which awards the followspot extra credit. And according to Robert Juliat's Fred Lindauer, who'd met Larson at LDI, the enthusiastic end-user couldn't wait to get his hands on the followspots in his building.

Simply put, Larsen likes the ease and control with which the Victors operate. "I'm quite glad we chose Robert Juliat Victor followspots," he says, "for performances at the newly transformed Alice Tully Hall interior. They're terrific!"
