Outline iMode iPad/iPad 2 App Debuts at InfoComm 2011

Users Can Access All iMode Functions for Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. and iSM Speaker Systems

ORLANDO, FL, JUNE 17, 2011 – Outline, the makers of high quality, industry leading speaker systems for touring, installation and studio applications, debuts its iMode iPad/iPad 2 App at InfoComm 2011 (Booth 683). iMode technology embeds a Linux-based CPU - with integrated DSP chip, parameter control software and Web server - right into its powered speaker systems, thereby streamlining setup and control by eliminating the outboard gear between the console and power amplifier. The new iMode Control App allows anyone with an iPad or iPad 2 to control the extensive pallet of iMode functions via the Web.outline_imode-ipad-app_fir_filters.jpg

“With the introduction of the iMode Intelligent Digital Loudspeaker Control Platform currently incorporated into the Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. line array and iSM monitor speaker systems, Outline has developed a control App to bring iMode power to the iPad/iPad 2 user,” says Tom Bensen, senior vice-president and managing director of Outline North America. “Because of the massive global success of the iPad as the user interface of choice for so many different types of applications, developing a dedicated App for remote control of Outline products was an obvious next step. We are very happy to offer Outline compatibility to the growing family of iPad users in the professional audio industry for both fixed installation and touring applications.”

Since winning a coveted PLASA award in 2010 and fulfilling Outline's design concept, “from console to enclosures in just one step,” iMode brings the power of advanced digital control of its self-powered speakers to an entirely new level, setting a new benchmark for the industry at large. In 2010, we also witnessed the birth of the tablet computer with the release of Apple's original iPad, with an estimated user base of nearly 15 million people. The release of iPad 2 is expected to further increase Apple's dominant market share.

“Remote access to system control elements is increasingly a crucial part of a sound engineer's tool box and the new iMode iPad/iPad 2 App addresses this need,” continues Bensen. “With iMode, users don't access a speaker enclosure, they go to a Web page and can control all system parameters from any place that offers Internet access, wired or wireless, from anywhere in the world. This capacity gives the user incredible flexibility and control by giving a greater number of people access to system settings, if desired. For example, a systems integrator for a facility could remotely review stored settings from his office to make sure everything is working to specification. That is very powerful and now possible for any iPad user.”
