Meyer Sound Joins Association of Sound Designers in the UK

ms_asd.jpeg Meyer Sound of Berkeley, Calif., has become a Corporate Member of the Association of Sound Designers (ASD), an organization established in 2011 to serve the broad interests of theatrical sound designers in the United Kingdom.

“Meyer Sound has worked closely with the West End and touring sound designers for decades,” says Roger Harpum, the company's UK sales manager. “We expect this new forum will help further strengthen our communication with theatrical sound professionals so we can better service their needs with high-quality tools and technical support.”

Meyer Sound loudspeakers have been a staple of the UK audio community since 1981 when legendary sound designer Abe Jacob introduced the UPA-1 loudspeaker to the West End in the original production of Cats. Current West End shows employing Meyer Sound loudspeaker and show control systems include Wicked, Million Dollar Quartet, Shrek the Musical, Rock of Ages, Wizard of Oz, and more.

The Association of Sound Designers was formally launched at the PLASA show on September 9, 2011. Other corporate members include DPA Microphones, Avid, DiGiCo, Orbital Sound, Autograph, Royal Shakespeare Company, and more. Gareth Fry currently serves as the group's first chairman.
