LCD Soundsystem Goes Massively Green with Bandit

lcd-soundsystem-by-erik-hess.jpgElectronic Dance Music sensation LCD Soundsystem hit 2010 with one of the most dynamic, in your face, forceful shows on tour this year. Talented designer Eric Cathcart dreamed up a most unusual design, surrounding the band with 25' wire ladders full of 80 GRNLite 3-54 Battens and 40 Thomas Linear 4 Lites. The result is a powerful barrage of color, motion and flashing like nothing ever seen before. There is very simply no fair way to describe the event; it must be seen to be appreciated. There are numerous videos on You Tube that will deliver the complete intensity that Cathcart and the act has created. This large collection of LED based fixtures is as bright as any thing on the road, and the intensity on the Battens is dialed down most of the time, as they are just too bright! Because they are LED solutions, there is every little power used and no heat on stage, both huge bonuses to the band and the venues. Were these traditional illumination sources a generator would be required at many venues, and the stage would be unbearably hot due to the close proximity of the fixtures to the stage.

MAC 2000 Washes and Performances, as well as VL 2500 Spots, PARs and Martin Atomic Strobes round out the system. The console of choice for Cathcart is the Grand MA Lite.

Tour manger Keith Anderson and production manager Mike Laffety move the show from town to town, on a global basis, with Bandit in tow worldwide. James Murphy is the heart and soul of LCD Soundsystem, having started the whole thing in 2001. He has earned several Grammy nominations along the way and produced special pieces for a variety of people including sports giant Nike. The current tour is in celebration of the new album “This is Happening”, itself a hit and critically acclaimed. Bandit Business Development Manager Brent Barrett is the contact for the show and has had a great ride along the way. Bandit Lites is very proud to be part of this groundbreaking show and enjoys working with the high quality staff on the tour. After all, it is people that define every job and LCD Soundsystem is a winner from top to bottom. Bandit Lites continues to help Green the world of entertainment, one act at a time!
