MELVILLE, NY, September 14, 2010 — Korg has released the SV-1 Sound Pack 2 for its acclaimed Stage Vintage (SV-1) Piano. The Sound Pack features a wide assortment of sounds, including many that were inspired by user feedback. Some of these requested sounds include darker tine pianos, an acoustic piano with more sustain and a wider variety of organ sounds. Of special note, for the first time there are split sounds, including left hand basses (a surprise hidden in the ROM, until now). This free, downloadable* Sound Pack is available at www.korg.com/sv1. *Note: Requires SV-1 OS V1.2 or higher

A bevy of nearly 20 artists and composers spanning a wide range of genres were called upon to demo the new sounds, including Russ Ferrante, Jordan Rudess, John Novello and more. These demos and info about the performers can also be found at the website. This is the second release of new sound support for the SV-1, with more planned for the future.

About the Korg SV-1

Available in both 73 and 88-key versions, the Stage Vintage Piano offers 36 of the most in-demand and coveted vintage keyboard sounds, recreated with exacting detail. Decades of electro-mechanical, transistorized, tape-driven, analog and digital legends are included, in addition to a collection of rich acoustic pianos. Crafted using Korg's RX (Real eXperience) Technology, each sound is a detailed and authentic re-creation, accurately capturing the full range of expression and dynamics of the original. The SV-1 also recreates the effect pedals and studio processing that gave these sounds their original luster. The proven, tube-driven (12AX7) Valve Reactor circuit adds warmth and realism to period-accurate amplifier models. Together, the three-band EQ, Pre-FX, Modulation FX and Reverb/Delay add yet another dimension of authenticity.

The Pa800 uses Korg's RX (Real eXperience) Technology to drive Korg's proven EDS (Enhanced Definition Synthesis) engine for a natural sound. The Korg STYLE Engine can quickly transform musical ideas into complete, polished productions. An intuitive layout offers easy access to up to 960 detailed and authentic music Styles created by musicians worldwide. An additional 416 user Style locations are available. Each Style offers a drum part, percussion part, bass part and up to five additional musical parts. Three introductions, four variations, three fills and two endings allow each Style to create dynamic and lively songs.

For ease of use, the Pa800 offers a robust, color 240 x 320 pixel TouchViewâ„¢ screen with two interface modes. For beginners or live performance, the EASY mode uses enhanced graphics to display common performance controls, while EXPERT mode offers full editing control.

For the songwriter, the Backing Sequencer allows the entire Style to be captured in a single pass. Step-entry allows an individual chord to be quickly changed, automatically rewriting all of the accompaniment parts. Novice users can simply type in the chord changes, without any special playing skills. In performance, Korg's XDS Dual Sequencer allows users to load one sequence or MP3 file while the other plays, and use the DJ-style crossfader for smooth transitions between them.

The exclusive SongBook function allows players to select a song from the user-defined, searchable database and instantly call up the correct sounds, Style, tempo, key and effects for each song, or even play a finished song from the sequencer. A Jukebox function can play back an entire set in a continuous manner. Score View displays music notation, and lyrics can also be displayed or output to an external monitor using an optional video interface kit (VIF4).

The onboard sound system features fixed EQ, loudness control and two 10-cm bass speakers as well as two tweeters powered by 22-Watt amplifiers, housed in a bass reflex enclosure for rich musical sound quality.

Additional features include:

• Two user-assignable sliders; two assignable switches; joystick

• Four audio outputs

• MIDI In/Out/Thru

• Two balanced/unbalanced mic/line audio inputs

• Damper pedal input and user-assignable pedal input

• Connection to optional EC5 pedalboard with five assignable switches
