i-Pix BB 2x2 LED fixtures made their live event debut on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury 2010 - the UK's favourite and highest profile contemporary music and performing arts festival.

Twenty of i-Pix's latest BB 2x2 fixtures were incorporated into the general Pyramid production design by Fraggle (Andy Porter). They were rigged on 3 of the overhead trusses and used for camera candy and general stage washing, for which they worked perfectly.

The units were used extensively both after dark and during the daylight sessions - such is the brightness and smooth quality of the light output - and they made a great impression during the day when many other sources would not register on the TV.

Being low on power - drawing a mere half an Amp on full - the BB 2x2 also offers great benefits in terms of producing maximum light for minimal electricity!

Pyramid and Other stage lighting equipment was supplied by Neg Earth, and headliners throughout the 3 day festival included Muse, Gorillaz and Stevie Wonder.

The BB 2x2 is brand new from i-Pix - a square four cell self contained fixture made up from two BB2 units with removable fronts for the option of mixing up the optical systems. The choice of quick-change optics includes the same 10 degree optic that has been so popular with the BB 7 and the 20 degree optic as used in the BB4, plus two additional beam angles of 35 and 45 degrees.

Also, numerous other i-Pix products were used site wide on many different stages, proving once again the reliability and durability of the BB range in the soaring temperatures enjoyed by festival goers throughout the weekend.

Over in the Dance Village where the moves, grooves and vibes were hotter events than the glorious weather ... Colour Sound Experiment supplied i-Pix BB4s and BB7s in the Dance East tent - where they were used for spectacular audience and stage blinding effects. CSE also supplied BB16s to the Glade Stage.

The Editors lighting designer Cate Carter used 10 BB4s as part of their floor specials package for their rocking performance on the Other Stage - which were supplied by rental company Siyan.

LD Jonny Gaskell used 12 BB7s for the band's Saturday night performance on the Other Stage, this time supplied by Neg Earth.

There were also 12 BB4s on the John Peel Stage, which showcases an exciting selection of up-and-coming acts to ones-to-watch. These were supplied by rental company DPL.

Designer Nick Jevons and Electric Fly Productions used BB4s to help light the Queens Head Tent (the ex Leftfield Stage) and James Loudon, LD for the Circus Tent, made good use of some of the fantastic petal shaped BB7s.

i-Pix Chris Ewington sums up, "It was great to have a wide selection of fixtures at Glastonbury again, and we've had loads of positive feedback. The diverse ways in which BBs continue to be used really emphasises their flexibility and the creativity of the different individuals involved".

Ewington adds that he was particularly pleased with the performance of the BB 2x2s. "For a first time out - the event and positioning could not have been more prestigious," he concludes.
