HARMAN’s Soundcraft Provides Sound and Lighting Training at Winter NAMM 2013

scraft_hotzone.jpgANAHEIM, California — At Winter NAMM 2013, HARMAN’s Soundcraft will host a seminar at the H.O.T. (Hands-On Training) Zone titled, “Lighting Control for Sound Guys.” The session will introduce attendees to the DMX protocol and will provide training using Soundcraft’s Si Performer—the first console to integrate sound and lighting control in one board.

The H.O.T. (Hands-On Training) Zone provides live educational sessions and innovative ideas for professionals in the pro audio, entertainment technologies, music business operations, recording, live sound, DJ, house of worship, commercial systems contractors/integrators, and stage and lighting industries.

“The Si Performer is revolutionary in its integration of sound and lighting disciplines and while it solves a litany of challenges, it also raises the issue that many sound engineers do not know how to operate a lighting console, nor are all lighting engineers familiar with the ins and outs of running a sound board,” said Richard Ayres, Product Manager for Soundcraft, who will be running the seminar. “Our session at the H.O.T. Zone will aim to provide engineers with a comprehensive understanding of both disciplines.”

Thanks to integrated DMX functionality, the Soundcraft Si Performer range adds lighting control options to an already impressive and powerful audio feature set. The Si Performer consoles have an input capacity of 80 inputs to mix and the Si Performer 2 features 24 mic and eight line inputs, while the Si Performer 3 boasts 32 mic and eight line inputs, plus four FX return channels. The unique integration of a DMX512 port offers core lighting control. The first release of software provides four scene masters (A-D) with associated slave channels on the ALT fader layers, individual colour intensities or parameters are set on the slave faders with an overall master level fader, which itself may be assigned to any of the main fader layers for simultaneous access to audio and lighting levels.

“Lighting Control for Sound Guys” will be held on Sunday, January 27 at 1:30 PM, in Room 203 A-B at the Anaheim Convention Center. For more information, please visit http://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2013/hot-zone/lighting-control-sound-guys
