HARKNESS NAMED OFFICIAL SCREEN SPONSOR FOR 3D ENTERTAINMENT SUMMIT™

~ Spectralâ„¢ 240 to be Used for General Conference Sessions ~

UNIVERSAL CITY, CA — At the upcoming 3D Entertainment Summitâ„¢, official screen sponsor Harkness Screens' Spectralâ„¢ 240 will be the featured projection surface for all general conference sessions. The 3D Entertainment Summit, being held in association with Variety magazine on September 15 and 16, 2010, at the Hilton Los Angeles in Universal City, California, will showcase never-before-seen 3D content projected onto an 18 X 33 foot Harkness screen.

Due to its high extinction ratio and the spectacular 3D images it provides, the Spectral 240, commonly referred to as the “silver screen,” is used for “passive” front projection with 3D systems using polarised light, including the RealD XL. The surface also supports 2D images and can be used successfully in applications where both 2D and 3D are shown. The intrinsically high gain (2.4) overcomes light losses in 3D systems. Harkness, which makes screen surfaces optimised for all 3D technologies, has provided the majority of screens for 3D presentations worldwide.

“In the world of 3D, the content typically takes the front seat, but having the correct screen is a very important aspect of the viewers' 3D experience,” says John Golicz, CEO of Unicomm LLC, co-producer of the 3D Entertainment Summit. “As the event's official screen sponsor, Harkness' reputation for providing high quality screens and service made the company a natural choice for us.”

Bringing together the most prestigious group of entertainment, financial and corporate players, the 3D Entertainment Summit's unique environment enables attendees to engage, debate and define the latest developments in the 3D marketplace. With an unprecedented group of 3D opinion leaders, the third annual summit will focus on how attendees can capitalize on 3D irrespective of what discipline in entertainment they currently hold.

“We are thrilled to be named the official screen sponsor for this year's 3D Entertainment Summit,” says Andrew Robinson, managing director at Harkness Screens. “The 3D Entertainment Summit is a premier 3D industry event and we are excited to be a part of it once again this year.”
