Specialist audio manufacturer Flare Audio has released compact versions of its acclaimed Quadhorn bass enclosures, to meet demand from small to mid-sized venues, touring artists and recording studios. The Q12 and Q15 use the same principles of Waveform Integrity and Flare Audio’s Nanoflow™ technology that earned the Q18, the original Quadhorn, success with clients including Secret Garden Party, Shakedown Festival, Leopallooza and Coca-Cola.
The new product additions offer a compact double 15" or 12” bass enclosure consisting of two custom neodymium drivers loaded using Nanoflow™ technology. Constructed from birch ply and press formed for increased strength, the bass systems have been designed with tourability and a small installation footprint in mind, while a choice of different finishes make them equally suitable for the studio or live setting. All models can be used in conjunction with Flare’s high pack product range, Triwave, which combines point source, line source and line array technologies, or the V Series compact speakers.
The Q12 and Q15 reproduce powerful and accurate bass in an enclosure that is a fraction of the size and weight of typical double bass cabinets. Ideal for smaller venues, the Q12 and Q15 have a minimal footprint and an integrated “top hat” which allows other loudspeakers to be mounted on a straight speaker pole above the enclosure. The Q12 and Q15 models can also be used to supplement large venue installations.
“The demand for a smaller version of the Q18 was overwhelming,” says Davies Roberts, Flare Audio founder. “By reducing it in size, we’ve widened the market for Quadhorn, making it available to small and mid-sized venues, professional and semi-professional musicians and studios. We have been able to go smaller without any change in audio quality. The physics of our system means it’s accurate and powerful, irrespective of scale.”
