Fishman Artists Play MerleFest 2010

elvis-costello.jpgAndover, MA––Held on the campus of Wilkes Community college in late April, early May, MerleFest 2010 drew over 76,500 fans, artists, volunteers and sponsors with a large roster of talent celebrating what founder Doc Watson calls "traditional plus" music.

Founded in 1988 in memory of Doc's son Eddy Merle Watson, MerleFest has become a showcase for what Doc describes as "…the traditional music of the Appalachian region plus whatever other styles we were in the mood to play."

Fishman Amplification, an event sponsor for years, was at MerleFest to support artists such as Doc Watson, Elvis Costello and the Sugarcanes (featuring Fishman artists Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, Jim Lauderdale, Dennis Crouch, Mike Compton, and Jeff Taylor); the Zac Brown Band; The Duhks; Missy Raines and the New Hip; The Waybacks; Dierks Bentley featuring The Travelin' McCourys; Sam Bush, Cadillac Sky, and the Avett Brothers.

Asked to comment about MerleFest 2010, Chris DeMaria, Fishman Amplification's Director of Marketing & Artist Relations said, "We're always pleased to discover that MerleFest just keeps growing and getting better every year. We've always done extremely well with our pickups and preamps, but over the last couple years our Aura technology has really taken off with bluegrass musicians.”
