LOS ANGELES (For Immediate Release) – Now it's easier than ever for lighting professionals to ensure proper transmission of RDM and DMX data, whether on the road touring or at a permanent installation. Elation Professional has introduced the RDMS6, a portable professional 6-way RDM/DMX splitter that's designed to be versatile enough to meet a variety of data distribution needs.
For starters, the RDMS6 can work with either RDM or DMX signals, because it complies with both RDM E1.20-2006 and USITT DMX-512 (1990) protocol standards. This flexibility allows it to be easily integrated into any lighting system via its 5-pin standard Neutrik connectors (6 Out, 1 In and 1 Thru), to split and boost RDM and DMX data signals.
Wherever it's used, the RDMS6's opto/electrical isolation design ensures secure, interference-free performance. It features optical isolation on each of its 6 outputs, protecting each branch from electrical faults and allowing it to function independently of the others. Additionally, each output is equipped with its own independent driver to boost signal, for optimal data transmission.
The RDMS6 has also been designed for versatile and easy installation. The unit includes 2 Velcro straps for easy pipe mounting, as well as a hanging bracket adaptor that attaches to a C-clamp on truss.
“We designed the RDMS6 to be an all-purpose, ‘go anywhere' RDM/DMX data splitter,” said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. “It comes with a special bracket that allows it to be easily mounted on truss at a concert or production, and it also has Velcro straps for ‘wrapping' around a pipe or light bar.
“The whole idea behind the RDMS6 was to provide an all-in-one lightweight, rugged yet portable RDM/DMX splitter that can fill a variety of needs,” Loader added. “The last thing a lighting technician or installer needs to worry about is their data splitter – whether it's going to work with their lighting system or application, perform reliably and so forth. With the RDMS6, we've eliminated this concern, because this unit does it all.”
Another feature on the RDMS6 that makes life easier for lighting pros is a Linkout/Terminate Switch that allows you to easily terminate your DMX line. This eliminates the need to bring along a DMX terminator – something that people often forget to take with them, Loader pointed out.
The RDMS6 also includes an RDM/DMX Switch, and it features multi-voltage operation: 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz. Rated at IP20, it is both RoHS and CE compliant. Built for life on the road, the splitter is encased in rugged extruded aluminum housing, yet is also very lightweight and portable. It weighs just 1.3 lbs/ 0.57kg, and measures a compact 10.4” x 4.7” x 4.4”/ 264 x 120 x 113mm.
