Dowlen Sound Puts Its Trust in Powersoft Amplifiers for Denver's Mile High Music Festival

High Altitude and Temps Prove No Problem for Powersoft Amps

DENVER, CO, September 22, 2010 – Powersoft amplifiers, the most efficient, green-designed amplifiers in the industry, were employed by Dowlen Sound to pump up the volume at the 2010 Mile High Music Festival, presented by Kyocera on August 14th and 15th at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denver. The Powersoft amplifiers' pristine, clear sound truly brought the music home for audience members gathered to hear festival headliners Slightly Stoopid, Train and Weezer, among other big-name acts.powersoft_mile-high-festival-main-stage.jpg

Founded in 2008, the Mile High Music Festival has quickly become one of the Rocky Mountain region's largest, most anticipated events. This year's show took place across 14 soccer fields surrounding Dick's Sporting Goods Park, with Dowlen Sound once again providing production for the entire festival. The Wolf Stage, the festival's second largest venue, is where Dowlen decided to deploy their newest sound system, Outline GTO, powered by Powersoft. Though it contended with an altitude of 5,300 feet and temperatures approaching 100 degrees Fahrenheit, Dowlen Sound found these conditions were no match for the Powersoft amplifiers.

powersoft_mile-high-festival-amp-racks.jpg“We had 50 Powersoft K Series DSP/AESOP amplifiers, powering and controlling a total of 72 loudspeakers, and they performed flawlessly, even with the high altitude, hot weather and dry, dusty conditions,” says Bret Dowlen, president and owner of Dowlen Sound. “Powersoft drove 24 Outline GTO large format-, eight Outline MANTAS down fill- and 16 Butterfly out-fill line array speakers, as well as eight Outline SubTech 218 sub woofers and 16 Dowlen Sound dual 18-inch sub woofers. The Powersoft systems gave us excellent, trouble-free support of the sound throughout the entire festival.”

The system control was supervised by Armonía, through which all crossovers, EQ, limiters and delays were designed and deployed in the K-DSP/AESOP amplifiers. Dowlen Sound also employed Powersoft's innovative IPAL technology in four Outline LAB21SP sub woofers providing the “power alley” sub low sound for the center stage.

Powersoft amplifiers proved such a success at the Mile High Music Festival that Dowlen Sound deployed them for several recent shows at Colorado's famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre, according to Eric Satre, Sales Executive, Dowlen Sound. “We used the Powersoft amplifiers for the Rodrigo y Gabriela show on August 20 and the BB King concert on August 25,” he recalls. “The results were stellar, and, as we provide the sound for many of the shows at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, we'll be using them again there, exposing Powersoft to many visiting engineers. Powersoft amplifiers take the stress out of providing sound at this level. They've worked out great for us.”

“With its high-altitude location and difficult weather conditions, the Mile High Music Festival offers an excellent proving ground for the ruggedness and reliability of Powersoft equipment,” says Tom Bensen, Vice President and Director of Operations for Powersoft Advanced Technologies, LLC, the U.S. branch of Powersoft. “The fact that in the face of these challenges, Dowlen Sound was able to deliver such quality sound to audience members is testament to the quality of the Powersoft product, not to mention the excellence of its design.”
