CRMX helps London end 2012 with a bang

london-eye-new-year.jpgAt midnight on New Year's Eve, the Mayor of London's New Year's Eve Firework Display celebrated an extraordinary year for the capital and reaffirmed London as a true global city on the world stage. Jack Morton Worldwide, the award winning global brand experience agency, created the display for the ninth successive year. The agency engaged Lighting Designer, Durham Marenghi who worked with Stage Electrics to supply CRMX wireless distribution of DMX data to achieve the design. Marenghi's lighting provided an impressive visual display including a large quantity of Clay Paky and Vari-Lite fixtures, as well A&O SearchLights. Control was linked to a GPS Timecode source to provide true synchronization with the fireworks, audio playback and other production elements.

As has now become custom, Marenghi placed a moving light into each of the 32 capsules on the London Eye and once again turned to the CRMX Technology to provide the critical wireless DMX/RDM link to the fixtures from the control position. Stage Electrics' extensive stock of ZeroWire CRMX units (by Cooper Controls) allowed them to provide three universes of wireless communications from control to the eye, all synchronized with an industry leading 5ms fixed latency.

The patented Cognitive Coexistence technology, design by LumenRadio and integrated into the ZeroWire CRMX products, provides the optimum wireless control solution in the challenging environment around the London Eye, where upwards of 30 wireless networks are available at ground level. By selecting the least congested wireless frequencies every millisecond, CRMX enabled products avoid colliding with other wireless technologies and maintain a wireless link, even when tonnes of pyrotechnics are in the way.

LumenRadio's VP of Entertainment, Peter Kirkup, commented "Stage Electrics explored a lot of control systems before settling on CRMX. The selection of CRMX for this job was based on trust and support - whilst competitive products were available for the job at a lower cost, Stage Electrics needed a solution they knew would work flawlessly, and once again our CRMX technology proved to be the only answer.
