Coemar Infinity Wash XL, ParLite LED Move MTV's Mighty Mammoth Marquis

mtvAnd the winners are: Coemar's heroic Infinity Wash XL and ParLite Led lights, which took the stage -- and sets -- aiming to please serious music fans who crave the very best in live-night entertainment. Emanating from the monumental Paramount Studios, the 2008 MTV Music Awards show, hosted by Russell Brand, called for old-time/new-time cinematic pop.

In-demand MTV veteran Tom Kenny was lighting designer of the entire ceremony, as well as original sequences filmed on Paramount's back lot. He wished to further extend preset themes of classic movie theaters and film sets, and "designed with old movie lamps in mind. My plan of action," he explains, "was to let 110 Infinity Wash XLs and 200 ParLite Leds do the brunt of the work. Lighting the ornate, complexly-configured stage and depth-y sets was a great challenge, but we worked our way through to an extremely successful outcome."

Kenny is delighted with the Infinity Wash XLs' performance as they fit with his particular vision for the show. "I like them," he remarks, "for their beam effect, color and powerful source. On television, they read like big search lights. I like the look...they give me a great graphic overlay.

Infinity Wash XL features include full-range dimming, completely electronic strobo zap, black out and synchronized or random strobe effect. A CMY-S color mixing system with new saturation mode (patented), 5 colors plus white on the color wheel, proportional CTO filter and 5 to 84 zoom are also included.

The ParLite Leds were "used in all the architectural and scenic elements," notes Kenny. "They're great little lights to fit into all the little nooks and crannies. And because they're LED, they're low-power."

Coemar ParLite Led lights come with full-range dimming, synchronized or random strobe effect, as well as infinite colors generated by a convergent RGB color system. They're 36 led luxeon, 1 W each, with a declared led life of 100,000 hours.

As with a myriad of MTV specials past, Coemar Infinity Wash XL and ParLite Led lights have given this Tom Kenny storyline a truly happy ending. "I really appreciate Mark Villa of Illumination Dynamics and Susan Tesh and Dave Osesky of Video Equipment Rentals for supplying us with gear tailored to the specific needs of the show," concludes Kenny. "I work with the absolute best people. It's great fun. I love it!"
