Leave it to Coemar Infinity S Series lights to shine beam and gleam onto Univision's Nuestra Belleza Latina pageant-of-pretty.
Stunning beauties, themselves, the Infinity S Series fixturesreign triumphant each Sunday night, as finalists schooled and skilled in dance, catwalk, spoken word et al, fearlessly face-off.
According to Rick Rudolph of Florida-based Stage Equipment And Lighting (equipment supplier and integrator for Univision's reality-TV beautyfest, now in its third season), lighting designer Carlos Colina was quite impressed with the Infinity S lights' performance upon first demo.
"On this particular job site," notes Rudolph, "the trim was just under 25 feet. Carlos, along with lighting director John Daniels, had needed a product that would provide the functionality of a big gun, but in a smaller package." The Infinity S lights' intensity, color and compatibility were indeed very attractive to both Colina and Daniels.
Thus, 122 Infinitys were employed with ", essentially no issues" attests Rudolph. "They complemented the set and venue, as well as blended very well with the Coemar iWash Halos we were using."
Boasting big brightness from a compact unit, the Coemar Infinity Spot S lights pack an amazing zoom range from 35 degrees down to 9 degrees. CMY color mixing, rotating and indexing prism effects, and (one each of) aerial and break-up wheels, 7 gobos + open, respectively, afford feature-rich flexibility first and foremost.
The Coemar Infinity Wash S light offers an amazing zoom range from 36 degrees down to 6 degrees. With a zoom tight as an ACL, this space-, weight- and power-saving wonder comes complete with a CTO filter, 360 degree beam shaper and moon flower effect. CMY color mixing with 5 colors + open are included.
Rudolph speaks of the very fluid nature of the show's run-through. "An extremely difficult endeavor [in terms of design and lighting]," contends Rudolph, "this type of production entailed lots of audience participation, and so was handled at times very much on-the-fly. Colina's design is both brilliant and flexible
The challenge, he claims, had been to provide a flexible environment for such a complex setup, whereby camera angles were to constantly change. "From a supply standpoint" reflects Rudolph, "the quality of the Coemar Infinity S lights, out-of-the-box, was just amazing."
He concludes: "Nuestra Belleza Latina's production aspect had proven to be, at certain moments, appearing as a free-for-all. But that's the excitement the producers are looking for...and Coemar's Spot S luminaires are what really made it happen!"
