CLEAR-COM'S ECLIPSE DIGITAL MATRIX VERSION 5.0 NOW SHIPPING

Latest Version Offers Increased Connectivity and Expandability for Broadcasters

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, SEPTEMBER 12, 2008—Clear-Com® Communication Systems, a Vitec Group brand, launches Version 5.0 of its highly robust Eclipse® Digital Matrix System. Acting as a central switching unit for communications across a broadcast operation, the new Eclipse Digital Matrix Version 5.0 offers more connectivity options between frames and panels, expands the Digital Signal Processing and “Listen Again” capabilities on V-Series user panels, and simplifies the user interface of its configuration software. Clear-Com demonstrates these capabilities at IBC, Stand 9.C40a.clear-com-eclispe-digital-matrix-median.JPG

A leading global provider of professional communication solutions for broadcast, live performance, government and commercial markets, Clear-Com brings increased system connectivity and expandability to Eclipse V5.0 through a robust E1/T1 telecom connection and fibre linking with intelligent switchover. Panel connection choices have been expanded to include Cat 5, Coaxial, AES3 pairs, and other options. AES digital connectivity to V-Series panels offers more flexibility with binaural listening for OB van applications.

Working in conjunction with an E-FIB card, fibre linking between Eclipse intercom matrices of the Median and Omega classes enables large and even multi-venue productions to tie their intercom systems together. Multiple Eclipse systems may then act as one non-blocking matrix using redundant high-capacity fibre, resulting in a large, high-quality, full-duplex communications system for mobile production and studio integration.

“Having been in the industry for 40 years, Clear-Com understands the communication needs of broadcasters in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment,” says Matt Danilowicz, Managing Director, Clear-Com Communication Systems. “As unforeseen events occur, the intercom system needs to be accessible, dependable and flexible enough to support the production workflow. With Version 5.0, we are advancing our technology to broaden communication access, whether in a broadcast studio or across multiple broadcast stations.”

The Eclipse system is also outfitted with features that place control at the user's fingertips, with the highly advanced V-Series rack-mount and desktop user panels. The AES-6-RJ interface card allows the user to control remote V-Series panels through AES3 stereo digital audio routers and consoles where the Eclipse intercom is required to talk over audio feeds, as typically occurs in OB vans and studio environments. V-Series panels are also enhanced with improved Digital Signal Processing routing for increased audio control and mixing, and upgraded with “Listen Again” capabilities to store up to 30 seconds of incoming audio and audio messaging.

V-Series panel features include 12 or 24 keys with eight shift pages; a clear, bright graphical display depicting 10 international characters, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian, for greater flexibility in the naming of sources and destinations and a menu button that provides access to assignment and set-up options. Each of the keys, including one dedicated for answer-reply, has individual audio level control.

Eclipse Configuration Software (ECS) provides a visual and intuitive user interface, featuring graphical views of the panels. ECS has the ability to apply labels and control functions to each individual panel button. Based on a stand-alone or client/server concept, programming is done from a PC through Ethernet LAN connections. Status and diagnostic messages are available, allowing systems to be maintained remotely.
