Working in TV, I’m a big, big fan of Arri lighting. The instruments produce great light and are well built. I use them whenever I can.
Arri continues that tradition with its new L-Series, a LED fresnel.
The usually spot-flood focus is still available. The L-series fixtures also behave like a fresnel should behave, producing a lovely beam of light. The low power draw means location shooting just got a lot easier. On-board adjustments really make stand-alone operation a breeze. There’s a knob to adjust the dimmer (no more rolls of ND), a knob to adjust color temperature (no more rolls of CTO and CTB), and a knob for +/- green (further saving rolls of gel and headache).
There are three types - a tunable daylight and tungsten fixture, as well as a RGBW model. Each have their applications.
The fixtures can also be controlled via DMX and run through a console, a more preferable option in a studio environment.
LED fixtures have come a long way recently, and the L-Series proves that trend.
