It is also home to the new Grandview Conference Center. Big Cedar Lodge recently hired A-1 Audio (Hollister, Mo.) to install a sound system in the 1,000-seat Grand Ballroom (the space can be separated into four individual meeting rooms). Five Yamaha IMX644 digital rackmount mixers were installed to accommodate the Lodge's requirements.

“The Grandview Conference Center Ballroom is using one IMX644 for each of four ballrooms at the center,” states Pete Savel of A-1. The fifth mixer is used as a controller for the other four mixers via an AMX wireless touch screen. AV requirements included four microphone inputs and two line inputs per room. The system is also set up for teleconferencing needs using a digital coupler from ClearOne, as well as recording capabilities. “This set up is a very cost-effective solution for a conference center with basic needs,” says Savel. “We essentially took an old system and brought it up to current technology with a lot of value engineering.”

“It has been a blessing to have the Yamaha IMX644 mixers in place,” states D'Wayne Parker, Audio/Visual Manager at Big Cedar Lodge. “Combined with the wireless AMX system, we can now seamlessly satisfy all ballroom sound requests with minimal space, maximum quality and manipulate multiple systems remotely with ease. The Yamaha mixers produce much higher sound quality than the typical convention center sound system and plays really well with other equipment. It makes volume changes effortlessly smooth for multiple rooms and simultaneous presentations. The console's size really helped minimize congestion of bulky equipment in the conference rooms.”

Developed for installation applications like the Big Cedar Lodge Grandview Conference Center as well as banquet halls, lounges and restaurants, The 2u Yamaha IMX644 retails for $2,099 and delivers excellent sound quality and is easy to install. Features include simple front panel controls with lockout security, six mono mic/line inputs, four stereo inputs, and four zone outputs with six-band PEQ. Mono inputs include EQ, Feedback Suppressor, and Priority Ducker. The mixer has 16 Scene Memories, a 9-pin remote port for touch panel control, eight GPI I/Os, and a USB port for PC control software.
