BW Events, a managed services and technology consulting company for the events industry, has announced a “significant” growth investment from tech investment firm Serent Capital, though the financial details of the funding were not disclosed. This follows more recent funding in the event tech space at both Glisser and JUNO in the past few months, although growth has slowed since its peak in 2020 and 2021.
BW Events said that it plans to use the investment to expand its sales and marketing teams as well as its suite of offerings. Unlike many other event tech companies, BW Events does not offer its own out-of-the-box event platform but rather provides end-to-end platform development and configuration for fully customized experiences.
The company also builds bespoke architecture and integrations, provides vendor management services, and offers event tech consulting for the full range of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events. These types of fully custom offerings may become more popular over time as companies lean fully into their digital strategies and budgets even out following the strong push to return to in person this year, which has left many virtual and hybrid initiatives on the backburner.
“After a tremendous period of growth, we’re thrilled to be accelerating our momentum with Serent and their team,” Brandon Wernli, Founder and CEO of BW Events, said in a statement. “The events industry continues to transform and evolve. We couldn’t pick a better partner to help us capitalize on the immense opportunity ahead for the events industry and BW Events.”
Lance Fenton, Partner at Serent Capital, added, “Through our diligence, it became clear that customers not only love working with BW Events, but they see real value from the differentiated solutions they provide. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Brandon and the BW Events team to scale up their impact on the ever-changing events industry.”
