Medialon Powers LED Screens On Schaulager Façade

The Schaulager, the permanent home of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation’s collection of contemporary art in Basel, Switzerland, is using a Medialon Manager V4 Pro and two Medialon Manager V4 Lites to create, control, and play back playlists for videos and other still and text projections on a pair of large LED screens on the entrance façade.

The Schaulager primarily warehouses, in optimum climatic conditions, the collection’s work not on display elsewhere. It is also a center for conservation and research for museum staff, restorers, curators, researchers, students, and teachers. The Schaulager is open to the public only when special exhibitions are scheduled.

“Medialon is the core of the whole installation,” says Tobias Waldmeier of integrator Bildflug GmbH. “The client wanted to be able to bring up any kind of video or still-format images to the LED screens. We searched for a playout system capable of doing that and decided on Medialon. Medialon brings the user interface for the customer to create, modify, and preview any playlist they make and, in turn, Medialon brings the power to play back the lists on the LED screens.”

The embedded graphical user Interface programming tool in Medialon Manager version 4 has been designed to allow fast and easy control panel and touchscreen programming inside the software itself. In addition, Medialon Manager comes with free user interface design software to easily deploy multiple control interfaces over a network.

At the Schaulager Medialon Manager V4 Pro controls the two Medialon Manager V4 Lites on a network plus an Electrosonic Vector for LED source management and two Pioneer DVD players for back up.
