i-D, in partnership with Chanel, announced The Fifth Sense, an online platform that will celebrate women across creative industries. The first subject is none other than award-winning set designer Es Devlin, who created her first solo installation titled Mirror Maze. The multi-room, immersive installation housed in a warehouse in Peckham, Southeast London explores scent and its connections to one's memory and identity. Devlin also collaborated with director Nick Woods on a new video, also titled Mirror Maze, that evokes a sense of falling to represent how the brain rapidly responds to a scent and connects it to an emotion.
