Meet the 2005 Projection Master Class Faculty:
Wendall K. Harrington–Creative Consultant Projection designer Wendall Harrington received the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and American Theatre Wing awards for her design of The Who’s Tommy. She designed and directed the premiere of Snapshots with the Elements Quartet, and Arjuna’s Dilemma. Her Broadway design credits include The Good Body (2004), Drowning Crow, Amy’s View, Putting It Together, The Capeman, Ragtime, Freak, Company, The Will Rogers Follies, and The Heidi Chronicles. Opera credits include A View From The Bridge at the Metropolitan Opera; The Juniper Tree; The Photographer at BAM; The Magic Flute in Florence; and Orpheo in Vienna. In the concert circuit, she designed projection for the Talking Heads (Stop Making Sense), Simon and Garfunkel (Old Friends), and Chris Rock (Blind Ambition). Harrington is the former design director of Esquire magazine and the mother of two fine daughters.

Sage Marie Carter, projection designer and consultant, designed the video for Dirty Tricks in 2004. Her theatrical credits include Loves & Hours, Arjuna’s Dilemma, Oo Bla Dee (Oregon Shakespeare Festival), One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Broadway, Steppenwolf Theatre Company), Miss Saigon (US tour), The Cripple of Inishmaan, Missing Footage, Having Our Say (Broadway, The McCarter Theatre, and national tour), Elvis Live and In Concert, Cakewalk (American Repertory Theatre), and Techno Sacre (Guggenheim Works & Process program). Non-theatrical projects include the PBS series Wynton Marsalis on Music, working with commercial clients, and providing technical projection consulting, creating multimedia for installation artists, and collaborating with Wendall K. Harrington on pre-shows for the New York Knicks, the New York Liberty, and the New York Rangers.
Jacob Pinholster is a recent MFA graduate of the University of Florida, who started his professional career assisting Elaine McCarthy on Wicked, Assassins, Spamalot, and Good Vibrations, among others. He recently designed the Off-Broadway production of Boozy: The Life, Death and Subsequent Vilification of Le Corbusier and More Importantly Robert Moses. In the fall, he will join the faculty of Arizona State University as professor of media design.
Peter Scharff is the CEO of Scharff Weisberg, which specializes in video projection, image magnification, show control, computer data display, and wireless sound technology. Since working on The Who’s Tommy in 1993, Scharff Weisberg, Inc. has been a constant on Broadway as well as in regional productions, although their mainstay is corporate events. The company was a 2004 EDDY Award recipient. Recent Broadway shows that Scharff Weisberg has supplied are 700 Sundays and Wicked. They worked on Radio City Music Hall’s Sinatra: His Voice, His Way (2004) and the American Ballet Theatre’s Pied Piper.
Projection Programmer Paul Vershbow is a 2005 EDDY Award winner. Vershbow has programmed on and off Broadway, opera, ballet, modern dance, and industrials for more than 30 years. Recent work with Ridge Theater includes John Adams’ Death of Klinghoffer at BAM; Michael Gordon’s Gotham at Zankel Hall; and Decasia at St. Ann’s Warehouse. Favorite productions are The Who’s Tommy on Broadway; John Adams’ Nixon in China at Opera Theatre of St. Louis; ABT’s Othello; and Bring in Da’ Noise, Bring in Da’ Funk at the Public Theatre and on Broadway. New productions this year include Billy Crystal’s 700 Sundays; Spamalot; Eve Ensler’s Good Body (all on Broadway); Doug Varone and Dancers Deconstructing English; and a new production of The Nutcracker with the San Francisco Ballet.
Gary Westcott is a concert and live event production, video, and lighting designer and director. He has worked with Jay-Z on numerous tours including The Best Of Both Worlds Tour with R. Kelly, Rocca-Fella Family Concert in Detroit, and Jay-Z & Friends at Madison Square Gardens. He was the lighting designer and video director for the 2000, 2001, and 2004 Egg Lake Festival, San Juan. Other notable concert work includes 2003/2004 SummerSonic Festival in Japan; 2004 Hot 97 Summer Jam at Giant Stadium; 2003 Eagles Farewell #1, #2 & #3 Tour (video, lighting, and content director); and the 2002 Prince, One Night alone with…World Tour (production designer, video, lighting and content director). From 1999-2000, Westcott worked as programmer and assistant director on Bon Jovi’s Crush World Tour, Kiss Psycho Circus Tour, and Tina Turner’s 24-7 World Tour. Live event work includes lighting designer and production director of Jean Michel Jarre’s Twelve Dreams of the Sun, 2000 Millennial Celebration at the Giza Pyramids, Cairo; and Jaeger LaCoutre, Geneva World exhibition system (lighting and video direction and consultant).
