Leading European flightcase manufacturer 5 Star Cases re-launches its hugely popular ‘Speed Challenge’ on Booth K10 at the 2013 PLASA exhibition at ExCeL in October.
5 Star is also delighted to have British Touring Car Racing driver, reigning Air Asia Renault ClioCup Champion and UK motorsport rising star Jack Goff on the stand for three of the four days of the exhibition (He’s racing on the Sunday). Jack – sponsored by some of the industry’s highest profile companies and brands - will be providing support for the Speed Challenge
The booth features a brand new stand - designed and built by the 5 Star Group - to showcase their top products and coincide with the exciting move of PLASA – the UK’s premier entertainment technology showcase - to a new venue this year.
5 Star’s Speed Challenge was initially inaugurated at PLASA back in 2006 to celebrate 5 Star’s landmark 25th anniversary. By popular demand it’s back for 2103 – running in a completely new racing simulator booth.
Says 5 Star’s Keith Sykes, “This was a great opportunity to combine fun as well as highlighting the many specialist features that can be included in our case projects, and of course providing an ideal opportunity to discuss these in more depth.
“Having Jack on the stand is a massive added bonus and we are honoured that he will be there to share the buzz and the great vibe of PLASA”.
The 5 Star racing simulator is housed in a completely custom designed and built 5 Star Super Tour flight case, featuring numerous client-requested case options like vent grills, stacking castors, access flaps, power inlet dishes, specialist hinged doors and many more.
One of key features is a powered TV Lift system, which is proving extremely popular for the latest LED and LCD screen cases. This TV Lift system enables the screen to be elegantly raised and lowered remotely, keeping the flight case to a minimum height.
The racing simulator uses this as the basis of its layout and has a 50" high definition LED screen as the main display, driven by a Sony PlayStation to provide the ultimate in graphics. A top-of-the-range racing seat, steering wheel and controls, as well as highly realistic 5.1 surround audio are also included.
The 5 Star Speed Challenge will be in action on all four days of the show … open to everyone who is a bona-fide trade visitor – on production of a business card!
The challenger logging the quickest circuit time during each hour of the show, will win a limited edition 5 Star briefcase.
The very lucky person with the overall quickest time over the four days of Speed Challenge will walk away with the additional prize of a Track Day with Jack Goff – the industry’s very own motor sport champion and British Touring Car racing driver!
This Track Day will enable the winner to invite up to three friends to enjoy the experience … and it can happen at a choice of one of the UK's leading circuits including Donnington, Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Snetterton etc., or whichever is closest and most convenient!
The Track Day will include hire of the circuit, helmets, fuel, slick tyres, instruction from Jack and of course the car, a Renault Clio 197 on slicks!

In addition to the 2013 5 Star Speed Challenge, also on the booth at PLASA will be a variety of standard 5 Star cases, custom built projects and foam inserts. The recently revised Industrial range of 19" rack cases will also be shown in a selection of unit sizes and external colours.
