V Squared Labs' Lighting Plots For Project LA

V Squared Labs designed the high-tech DJ booth for Project LA, a new club designed by Gensler architects that opened in Los Angeles last summer. The design includes an overhead light sculpture that comprises 48 custom LED triangles, each with four Elation Professional Rayzor Beam 2Rs and Rayzor Q7s, four Elation Professional Platinum Spot 5Rs, four Martin Professional Atomic 3000 Strobes, and one 7.5W NuSalt Laser. The fixtures are arranged symmetrically in predetermined spots built into the sculpture’s frame to accent the overall design, with the laser placed in the center, directly over the DJ’s head. In addition, 16” LED VC-Strips from Martin are mounted on a front facing mirror in each of the triangles. Over top of the strips is a seamless pyramid of two-way mirror that creates a a fragmented infinity reflection effect while allowing all light to be visible through the front.

These drawings, supplied by V Squared Labs illustrate the overall design and wiring layout for this project, which is covered in depth in the August 2014 edition of Live Design, and can be downloaded for free for iPad or iPhone from the Apple App Store or for Android smartphone or tablet from Google Play.
