On March 5, 2007, almost two years since the premiere of Le Rêve, the Le Rêve Theater at the Wynn Resort and Casino in Las Vegas temporarily closed its doors to undergo a complete redesign of the performance space. In about 30 days over 200 workers carried out the design by Mark Fisher and Roger Thomas. Although this massive project included changes with audience comfort in mind such as the installation of new custom seating and flooring and the creation of the exclusive VIP Champagne Circle area, the Le Rêve redesign also included the installation of a new inner ring catwalk truss custom fabricated by Tomcat USA.
The inner ring truss is 34’6” in diameter and is permanently installed and dead-hung from the building steel. The design of the handrail required some special considerations: to make room for the audio equipment to be attached to the inner face of truss, the handrail was divided in certain areas. The shape of building did not allow room for a handrail on the outside face of the truss. This coupled with the “divided” handrail gave the Tomcat design team a chance to create a unique way to support the catwalk. Ultimately, the truss was designed with extra support on each side of the handrail breaks and shock absorbers were designed that were rigged in line with the catwalk rigging to isolate it from the building steel in the case of a seismic event. In total there are 42 dead-hung points that support the catwalk.
Le Rêve reopened on April 5, 2007 and celebrated its 1,000th performance on September 29, 2007.
