A Technical Director's Guide To Frozen

Disneyland Resort technical director Mitch Atkins gives a backstage tour of Frozen - Live At The Hyperion at Disney California Adventure Park, with sets by Robert Brill, lighting by David Weiner, projection design by Aaron Rhyne, costume design by Clint Ramos, puppet design by Michael Curry, and sound design by Broken Chord. On any given day during the installation process, there were about 65 people, from creative team to tech to cast, at the Hyperion Theatre, working to bring the show to life. In the video above, check out the main scenic elements of the show from a giant ice chandelier to the many, many doors—flying, tracking, and everything in between since love is an open door, after all. Tait Towers was the automation specialist for the project. Check out videos on the projection design and the show's innovative technology as well as the creative team's collaboration process.
