Super Korrigan Is The New Spot On The Avenue

AvenueQ, lit by Howell Binkley, is the first show in London to use Robert Juliat’s new Super Korrigan followspot.

White Light, the exclusive UK distributor for Robert Juliat, supplied three Super Korrigans to the show’s lighting supplier, PRG. Faced with the need to have three center spots to ensure even coverage of the production’s puppets and puppeteers, the show’s creative team needed spots that were compact and quiet enough to mount in the open behind the audience. Located at the rear of the show’s second circle level, the spots are also able to fold out of the way, allowing the arriving audience to pass behind them.

Three Super Korrigan 1200W HMIs 7-14.5 degree beam angles were installed just days after a demonstration was tested at London's Noel Coward Theatre. In order to minimize the running noise of the followspots during the show, White Light also supplied three of Robert Juliat’s push-pull color-changers for the followspots. The show's lighting team installed the lights, led by production electrician Pete Lambert.

AvenueQ a musical Broadway tale of the everyday life of people, puppets and monsters living in an outer borough of New York, won Tony Awards for Best New Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score in 2004.
