New Theatre for Peninsula Players

Door County Wisconsin’s Peninsula Players has its first new home since 1935. Schuler Shook provided theatre-planning services to ensure that America’s longest-running professional resident summer theatre opened their 71st season this summer in a new, open-air home in Northern Wisconsin.

Schuler Shook collaborated with architects Holabird & Root on the project design. Seating capacity increased by 75 seats and sight lines improved from every seat in the house. A walkway from the new parking structure into the theatre provides easy access for theatergoers. Yet, the biggest changes might be those noticed first by the cast and crew members.

"On stage we have a fly tower; we can now raise and lower scenery; we have state-of-the-art lighting equipment, sound equipment," says Todd Schmidt, executive producer for Peninsula Players.

Todd Hensley, principal in charge for Schuler Shook notes, “Peninsula Players has a wonderful reputation for doing great theatre. Their new theatre gives them a better audience layout and much-improved design tools. We’re glad to be part of the theatre’s transformation.”
