New Book: Mixing a Musical: Broadway Theatrical Sound Techniques

Sound designer Shannon Slaton has written a new book on theatre sound, Mixing a Musical: Broadway Theatrical Sound Techniques.

The book is aimed at theatre sound design on many levels, from Broadway to regional theatre to school production. Slaton, a regular contributor to Live Design, shares his proven, effective techniques acquired over years of experience working on Broadway shows.

"When Focal Press approached me about writing a book about mixing I was very excited because I felt like it was a subject that had never really been written about," says Slaton. "This book is about what it is like to be a mixer and what it is like to mix a musical. I hope it helps educators create a jumping off point for discussing mixing issues in the theatre. I also hope it excites people about the career of being a sound board operator."
