Meyer Sound M’elodie Joins North Point’s Browns Bridge Community Church

From its humble beginnings in rented facilities in downtown Atlanta, GA, North Point Ministries has grown over the last 12 years to serve more than 17,000 members in three distinct suburban Atlanta campuses. North Point’s modern, nondenominational worship approach, comfortable environs, and willingness to embrace cutting-edge audio and video technologies have helped the organization become one of the more successful ministries in the southeast. With the installation of a new sound system featuring Meyer Sound’s M’elodie™ ultracompact high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers, North Point Ministries’ newest satellite location, Browns Bridge Community Church in Cumming, GA, delivers their message with the utmost power and clarity.

About 5,000 guests regularly attend Browns Bridge Community Church, which opened in October 2006. As with Buckhead Church in nearby Buckhead, GA, an impressive, high-definition video presentation featuring senior pastor Andy Stanley’s sermons highlights the church’s Sunday morning programming. The recently installed Meyer Sound system ensures that everyone in the audience hears the inspirational messages with unquestionable intelligibility.

The loudspeaker system in the 2,100-seat main sanctuary is comprised of 26 self-powered M’elodie boxes configured in two arrays. “M’elodie was an ideal choice for the Browns Bridge campus: it provides a powerful, highly focused performance that is both articulate and musical, yet it is compact enough that it doesn’t interfere with the aesthetics of the room,” says Matt Card, vice president of client development at Cumming, GA -based Clark ProMedia, which supplied audio and video systems for all three campuses.

Four CQ-2 full-range narrow coverage loudspeakers cover frontfill duties, along with two UPA-1P compact wide coverage loudspeakers and two UPA-2P compact narrow coverage loudspeakers. Sidefills are provided by 14 UPJ-1P compact VariO™ loudspeakers.

Six M3D-Sub directional subwoofers are placed under the stage to provide smooth and even coverage while keeping low-end energy off the stage. In addition, four 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofers augment the M3D-Subs’ low frequency coverage. Two Galileo™ 616 digital loudspeaker management systems handle system management and DSP. Additional components include two Digidesign Venue consoles for FOH and monitor mixing.

“North Point is certainly one of the most technologically savvy groups of people we’ve worked with. They place a high value on creating the best possible worship experience, and we’ve worked with them to implement what are undoubtedly among the best audio and video systems in North America,” adds Card.

The Browns Bridge sanctuary building also houses the Attic Theatre, a 700-seat venue designed to accommodate smaller functions such as teen and young adult programs. For the Attic, Clark ProMedia created a smaller array of 12 M’elodie cabinets augmented by six UPJ-1P boxes. Low frequency coverage is handled by four 700-HP subs.

Browns Bridge is also home to the Kidstuf Theatre, a 600-seat theatre dedicated to interactive, child-parent activities. Clark ProMedia designed a system for the Kidstuf Theater that includes five CQ-2 cabinets, five UPA-2P and five UPJ-1P boxes. Low frequencies are covered by four 700-HP subs.
